A friend of Gavin, our CEO, once said:
From this statement, you can begin to sense how his life had all begun. Gavin was born and raised in Singapore up to the age of 11. However, his father’s job led him and his family to move across the continent to the Down Under, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was then that his entire life turned a 180-degree. By the time Gavin had turned 17, he had attended seven schools in seven years. Do the math, that is a whopping 1 school per year!
In every new school he attended in his life, Gavin was a subject of daily bullying, racism, ostracism, and emotional turmoil.
Broken, hurt, and ashamed of himself, he felt negative, jaded, and lost in his life. However, at the age of 21, through a serendipitous moment, he found his peace and balance with his learning of the True Humility value from Christian theological teachings. By the end of that year in 2013, he was so convicted about the practice of True Humility, as he realised the ins-and-outs of the value. Soon, Gavin began to put to action this practice and found an incremental peace and balance in his life. Gavin felt a calling to share this to the world through writing a book. Upon returning to Singapore after his final year in university in Melbourne, Gavin worked for a few corporate firms, whilst starting to embark on his journey in book writing.
In 2019, Soil Of Humility was born. A company which envisions to be a transformational, game-changing company to bring more value-based contents, products, and services in our modern society.
In 2022, Soil Of Humility is excited to introduce Gavin’s latest award-winning, best-selling book, True Humility: Finding Peace and Balance in Today’s Modern Society, internationally! Join us in journeying together as we bring our world towards greater heights.

Like many in today’s culture and society, Gavin didn’t know that he was searching for happiness and meaning in the wrong places, and he became a victim of his own self-focussed behaviours. He also battled the effects of bullying, racism, and ostracism from his past, experiences that affected the way he looked at the world. In True Humility, Gavin shares his personal stories, observations about life, and key takeaways to help readers understand the practice of True Humility. The name, Soil Of Humility is inspired from the latin word Humilitas, which is also humus (earth). Soil Of Humility believes that at the essence of every individual lies the core value, the soil of humility, right from one’s first breath as a baby.
As one acknowledges that their first soil is grounded on a True Humility value, long-lasting peace and happiness can begin to take root and manifest bountifully.
